Mermejita Beach

This beach is a real gem in the area, in fact, in 2017 it was considered one of the best beaches in Mexico by National Geographic. It is composed of a spectacular mix of black and golden sand, and is located northwest of Mazunte. It is more secluded and less crowded, so it is ideal if you are looking for a quiet and intimate place. Furthermore, it is also famous for its beautiful sunsets and breathtaking ocean views, from where you can take fantastic pictures. 

Mazunte Beach

Of course, the classic Mazunte Beach cannot be missing in this list. It is the main beach in the area and is located in the center of town. Here you will find a wide strip of golden sand and calm waters, as well as restaurants, bars, places to practice water sports and some stores nearby. Without a doubt, a must-see in Oaxaca!

San Agustinillo Beach

Enjoy perfect waters to get started in surfing in this oasis located between the mountains of Mazunte. If you are looking for a serene atmosphere to relax and release stress, this is the beach for you. Escobilla Beach

One of the main activities that attracts hundreds of tourists every year to Mazunte is the release of sea turtles, and this beach is one of the most important sanctuaries in the region, where you can be part of the emotional moment when the turtle hatchlings head out to sea from the sand. Likewise, Escobilla Beach is also ideal for relaxing and enjoying incredible landscapes, always respecting its environment and the indications to protect native species.

Ventanilla Beach

Another great place to witness the release of turtles is Ventanilla Beach. It is located about 15 minutes from our hotel, and stands out for its extraordinary landscapes of black sand, composed of magnetite. It is also an ideal beach for horseback riding and enjoying amazing sunrises and sunsets. On the other hand, being next to the lagoon, you can enjoy multiple trails and observe crocodiles both in their natural habitat and in captivity, as well as various birds and species of the area, including deer.
